Lisa Maarek is a Miami - based director, writer, and producer. Her work explores ambiguous characters, as well as themes of identity, nostalgia, and the complexity of human connections. After attending the American University of Paris for one year, she transferred to Florida International University and is currently pursuing a BA in Digital TV & Multimedia Production. Since being back in Miami in 2024, she has devoted her time to working with Miami-based film festivals and production companies including the Miami Short Film Festival, the Citrus Circuit Film Festival, FWA Productions and VLOR

In 2025, Lisa wrote and directed her debut short film, Smoke Break, which uses elements of the classic film noir style in a modern and unique way. The film has been accepted into the IndieX Film Festival, Sunscreen Film Festival, Orange & Blue Film Festival, Sunshine City Film Festival, and the Alternative Film Festival and has been awarded Best Actor and Best Film-Noir. She has also participated on various South - Florida productions as a producer, production manager, 2nd assistant director, and script supervisor.

Lisa is currently developing other projects while experimenting with new genres. She is currently developing two drama shorts and co-writing a psychological thriller feature.

 Being born in the artistic hub of Paris, she has developed a deep appreciation for the arts, especially in film. As someone who appreciates the intricacy of the filmmaking process, she feels determined to create her own film projects, while also using her skills to work on other productions.
